In the run-up to the release of the full trailer, Netflix has posted a teaser for Our Souls at Night, the romantic story adapted from the novel by Kent Haruf, directed by Ritesh Batra (The Lunchbox). The film, featuring the legendary duo of Jane Fonda and Robert Redford will be available on the platform from September.
Our Souls at Night tells the story of Addie, a 75-year-old resident of Colorado, who has been a widow for decades; she has been lonely since her children left the family home. One day she decides to pay a surprise visit to her neighbour Louis, who is also a widower living alone.
It is an initiative that marks the beginning of a beautiful, slow love story. Without exchanging a word, the two lovebirds share a moment of complicity in a car, while listening to Etta James singing A Sunday Kind of Love.
Jane Fonda and Robert Redford, who have not made a film together for 37 years, reunite as a couple on the big screen. They played opposite each other in their first collaboration The Chase (1966), Barefoot in the Park (1967) and The Electric Horseman (1979).
On September 1, they will also go on stage together in Venice where they will be awarded Golden Lions for their career achievements. There will also be an out-of-competition screening of Our Souls at Night at the 74th Venice Film Festival.
