Jagga Jasoos, the Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif musical adventure film, is showing good legs at the box office, but its hefty production budget could dampen the success.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film made Rs 8.5 crore on its opening Friday, and Rs 11.5 crore on Saturday, showing increased footfalls by families. The film is poised to close out the weekend with Rs 35 crore.

Trade expert Girish Johar told Indian Express, “I am also expecting the film to collect an ideal Rs 35 crore during the first weekend. But we will have to wait for Monday to decide the final fate of the film.”
He also speculated that the film’s hefty Rs 110 crore production budget could become difficult to recover.
“The film should have been made in Rs 50-60 crore. The film was also shot multiple times. Ranbir Kapoor and Anurag Basu didn’t have a script in hand and they were shooting the film on Anurag’s instinct. There was also an entire song shot on Govinda. That track was also reshot and eventually taken out. All this must have increased the budget,” a source close to the production told Express.
Jagga Jasoos went through a well-publicised troubled production, with numerous starts and stops, a public breakup between its leads, which led to several delays.
As far as the reviews go, the film is heavily polarising. The Hindustan Times’ review, however, was glowing. You can read it here.
