The second largest CV manufacturer in India, Ashok Leyland, showcased its indigenously developed Intelligent Exhaust Gas Recirculation (iERG) technology at its annual global conference in Chennai. Along with the new technology, the company also displayed its entire range of future ready products which will make use of the iERG technology. As of now, it is just Ashok Leyland who has this technology in its armament, amongst the CV manufacturers in India. The iERG technology will be used for Ashok Leyland models which have an engine output of 128 bhp and above.

Ashok Leyland says that the Intelligent Exhaust Gas Recirculation technology is a rather simple solution in order for the engines to conform to BS IV emission norms. The company also claims that the iERG technology is not only more suited to Indian conditions but is also more cost effective than Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) based on European technology. The iERG will also prove to be easier to maintain and will result in better margins as compared to products having the SCR technology. At the annual global conference, the company showcased over 30 products and services including trucks, buses, LCVs, simulators and so on.

Sharing his views at the global conference 2017, Vinod K. Dasari – Managing Director, Ashok Leyland, said, “Ashok Leyland has many innovative class leading firsts to its credit through the years. More so this indigenous technology will help us deliver on our brand promise of ‘Aapki Jeet, Hamari Jeet’ in multiple ways. For our customers it will mean ease of use and better cost efficiencies. For the environment it will mean more efficient fuel combustion and improved emissions. The indigenous development of iEGR technology will also mean faster time to market and minimal cost of implementation. We will emerge as the only OEM in India to have achieved this.”
